About TriTone Asylum

Who is TriTone Asylum

So, who are we? TriTone Asylum is a collective of Los Angeles musicians who bring together years of experience and collaboration. The instruments at our sonic core are the electric valve instrument (EVI), keyboards and/or guitar, electric bass, saxophone and drums.

Through our instrumentation, we have been privileged to develop our own style that relies on the careful creativity of the artists. While we cover songs by artists that we greatly admire, our original numbers are influenced by a variety of musicians from the late 60's and the 70's including Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report as well as artists from the ECM label of that era.

Originally conceived in 2009 as a trio with EVI, keyboards and bass, TriTone Asylum quickly evolved into a sextet with drums, guitar and saxophone. At times we have also performed with both keyboards and piano.  This combination adds a great deal of color and texture to an electro-acoustic ensemble.
